Energy, in its simplest definition, is what allows change to happen.                                                                                                                       Day to night, reflection to action, anger to calm – whenever we face a change, we need energy. The more energy we have and the better we focus it, the easier it is to achieve what matters to us. By creating new energy habits, we increase both performance and well-being.

In recent years, professional transitions are more frequent, roles more fluid and organizational innovations the norm. To adapt and thrive with these dynamics, global leaders need a new set of skills to be at their best more easily and more often. Personal Energy Management -PEM- is a framework to become more:

  • Physically fit – to cope with increased speed
  • Mentally flexible – to navigate increased complexity
  • Emotionally resilient- to adapt to increased diversity of demands and stakeholders
  • Spiritually aligned- to stay connected with the ‘why’ behind our actions

Often, you know what would be most beneficial for you: listen more, calm down before acting, sleep longer…  The real challenge? Translating your knowledge into daily habits.

Over the past 20 years, the PEM framework has grown and improved through my clients’ testing to successfully move from ‘knowing’ to ‘applying’.

OVERVIEW OF MY APPROACH

Your energy is like the battery in your phone, you want to keep it charged to use it when you need it. Actually, there are five ‘batteries’ to drive and sustain your energy:

  • PHYSICAL: vitality and well-being – read more
  • MENTAL: clarity of focus and intellectual flexibility
  • EMOTIONAL: resilience, emotional self-regulation and creativity
  • SPIRITUAL: values, personal motivation and sense of purpose
  • SOCIAL: context, relationships and professional environment

As you are one and only system, your five batteries are constantly influencing one another. The more aware you are of their dynamic interactions, the more effectively you can draw from all your resources.

The better your energy is attuned to the situation, the easier it is to achieve your goals.
